2.1 Summary PDF from Carbon Benefits Project (CBP) Assessment

Assessment Results Description (related to Carbon Benefits Project (CBP) Summary PDF):

This technology considered the ‘Improvement of land under arid conditions through the creation of pistachio plantations under the original CACILM project’. The area reported on was 42 ha and a 20 year analysis was done covering the period 2016 – 2036. The main activity was the introduction of Pistachio plantations on sloping land to improve the lands productivity and to rehabilitate the arid land in the hill zone.
The CBP analysis found the technology to have a GHG benefit of -11,898 t CO2 e over 20 years which gives a rate of -595 t CO2 e / year (a negative number shows C sequestration and or avoided GHG emissions). This included -11,807 t CO2 e accumulated tree biomass and -167 accumulated in soils.
